Tatcha Logo

Vicky Tsai, disillusioned with her corporate job, turned towards the wisdom of traditional Japanese skincare during a trip to Kyoto, and founded Tatcha in 2009. Tatcha is more than a skincare brand; it symbolizes a transformative journey towards comprehensive wellness, focusing on harmony, beauty, and overall well-being.

At the heart of Tatcha’s product line is the innovative combination of timeless Japanese botanicals and clinically tested ingredients. Every formula incorporates Hadasei-3™, a unique blend of superfoods, amino acids, and AHAs inspired by the famously healthy Japanese diet. This mix is designed to work with the skin harmoniously, underscoring Tatcha’s holistic approach to skincare.

The brand’s philosophy is rooted in understanding skincare as a crucial element of overall health and well-being, with each product serving as part of a broader wellness ritual that engages all the senses. In addition, Tatcha promotes an inclusive vision of beauty, celebrating all skin types, stages, and shades.

Tatcha’s commitment extends to educational initiatives. The Beautiful Faces, Beautiful Futures fund, established in 2014 in partnership with Room to Read, supports girls’ education and literacy initiatives, ensuring that beauty and intellect are celebrated hand-in-hand.

The first Tatcha product, Original Aburatorigami, reflects the brand’s homage to traditional Japanese practices. These gold-flecked blotting papers are inspired by the techniques of Japanese gold artisans and geisha, offering a unique solution to maintain skin hydration and make-up integrity.

Tatcha also incorporates the ancient Japanese belief of “hinou dokon,” which sees the mind and skin as deeply connected. Their products aim to provide both physical and emotional benefits, leading to a clearer mind and a calmer spirit. They also offer five-sense rituals that encompass sound, touch, taste, sight, and smell, enhancing the holistic care of their approach. These practices, combined with their high-quality, naturally derived ingredients, make Tatcha a pioneer in harmonizing skincare and wellness.
